Directions for Use

Directions for Use has instructions detailing the use of the product. They include:

  • what the target pest is (insect, disease)

  • what seed it can be applied to

  • how much to use

  • how to mix and apply it

Seed treatment labels tell you to read and follow the seed treatment equipment directions.

Precautions

Warnings

  • “Harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Do not get in eyes.”

Protective Actions

  • “All workers must wear coveralls over long sleeve shirt, long pants, and chemical resistant gloves.”

  • “Wash hands and face after handling and before eating.”

First Aid

This section tells you what to do if someone is poisoned or injured by the pesticide and you are the first person to help.  

Every label states: “Take container, label or product name and Pest Control Product Registration Number with you when seeking medical attention”.
 

 

Disposal, Toxicological, Notice to User

The label has additional sections:

Disposal Section
How to dispose of the empty container

Toxicological Information
Information for the doctor 

Notice to User
The user must follow the directions on the label

Employees Right to Know

Know the details about the protective clothing and equipment you need to wear and the hazards of the chemicals so that you use the correct PPE!  Read the label.  If you don’t understand, ask your supervisor.
